MINNEAPOLIS, MN — February 19, 2014 — Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today that Brian Levy, M.D., its Vice President of Global Clinical Operations, Health Language, will share with HIMSS14 attendees his expert insights on the critical role data analytics plays in effective transitions to ICD-10. The session, Leveraging Analytics to Capture the Full Benefit of ICD-10, will take place at 11:30 a.m. EST on February 26 in Room 304A of the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.

The healthcare industry is running the last mile of its race toward the October 1 ICD-10 transition deadline. Dr. Levy, a practicing board-certified internist and nationally recognized healthcare informatics expert, will explore how organizations can accelerate readiness by leveraging analytics to proactively identify risk points and design strategies that improve documentation accuracy and revenue capture for the long-term.

Dr. Levy will analyze the full impact of the ICD-10 conversion on healthcare organizations and share with attendees the process for applying analytics to real-life use cases of existing claims data to identify areas of weakness and opportunity. Attendees will also learn how to design strategies to address identified financial risk points through clinical documentation improvement, streamlined conversion and improved billing. Finally, strategies for measuring the impact of analytics on documentation practices and revenue capture will be shared.

“The impact of the industry’s move to the greatly expanded and highly granular ICD-10 code set is expected to be unprecedented. Time is running short for healthcare provider and payer organizations that have yet to finalize their transition planning,” said Arvind Subramanian, President and CEO, Wolters Kluwer Health, Clinical Solutions. “Readiness strategies that leverage advanced data analytics such as those advocated by Dr. Levy enable healthcare organizations to be proactive in their approach, setting the stage for long-term success.”
