HealthPlan Services Appoints Michael Buda as Chief Human Resources Officer

TAMPA, Fla. – June 20, 2011 – HealthPlan Services (HPS), the nation’s leading technology and administrative services provider for the insurance and managed care markets, has appointed Michael Buda, Esq., PhD, as executive vice president and chief human resources officer. In this role, he will manage development and deployment of the organization’s human resource policies, procedures and strategies.

Buda brings to HPS more than 25 years of experience in providing organizational consulting and training, conflict resolution and employment law advocacy to business organizations and educational institutions. He is a leader in strategic best practices, with expert qualifications in legal compliance and HR functional areas, including talent acquisition, retention and succession planning and performance and workforce accountability systems.

Prior to joining HPS, Buda was senior vice president of human resources and employment legal counsel for Superior Hospital Corporation, Inc. Previous positions include employment attorney, senior organizational consultant and mediator for Buda Law; executive vice president of human resources and legal counsel for Jackson Healthcare; employment attorney, senior organizational consultant and mediator for Employment Practices Solutions & J.A.M.S.; and senior labor and employment defense attorney for Littler Mendelson.

Buda received his interdisciplinary Juris Doctor and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in law, management and organizational effectiveness from Syracuse University. He earned his master’s degree in counseling psychology and bachelor’s degree in psychology from Arizona State University. Buda has also completed intensive mediation coursework at the Pepperdine University School of Law Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. He is licensed to practice law in Georgia, California, Pennsylvania, District of Columbia and Minnesota.
