Physicians’ Push to Secure EHR Incentive Funds Drives Significant Growth for Doctors Administrative Solutions

TAMPA, Fla. – (May 11, 2011) – Bucking the depressed hiring rate and economic struggles that continue to plague other industries and businesses across the Tampa Bay region, Doctors Administrative Solutions (DAS) announced the addition of 10 new team members and 22 practices representing approximately 250 physicians. The additions top off six months of rapid growth for DAS (www.Dr-Solutions.com), driven by expanding interest in securing incentive funds for the deployment of certified electronic health record (EHR) systems.

“The significant uptick in engagements has been driven in large part by Central Florida physicians’ push to deploy the certified systems required to secure federal incentive payments under the HITECH Act,” said DAS CEO David Schlaifer. “It also demonstrates that area physicians are interested in an EHR that delivers value beyond qualifying for funds, one backed by the ongoing personalized attention and support that allows them to leverage the system to achieve better quality, higher reimbursements, faster revenue cycles and improved efficiency and productivity.

“As our client list has expanded, so too have our revenues, which have increased by more than 200% annually over each of the past three years. As a result of our dedication to personal service, in terms of market share DAS is now one of the top three EHR providers in the Central Florida market,” said Schlaifer.

To accommodate its rapid growth, DAS continued a hiring blitz launched more than six months ago by expanding its operation and implementation teams, which more than doubled its staff size.

“Our hiring process is arduous by design, with candidates going through a minimum of 10 hours of interviews and multiple tests – even many who don’t ultimately get hired. We take a lot more time than most in the selection process, but it is well worth it in the long run,” said Schlaifer. “We continue to hire the best in the industry, which enables us to provide the dedicated service to which our clients have become accustomed.”

The new team members will assist clients in deployment and use of the Aprima™ Medical Software EHR and practice management (PM) solutions and provide ongoing support. This includes advanced training to ensure practices quickly become meaningful users of the EHR, a requirement to qualify for up to $44,000 per physician under the incentive program.

DAS also provides post-implementation evaluations to measure how effectively its practices are utilizing the EHR system, in particular to comply with incentives and mandates such as Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), ePrescribing and stimulus payments. Comparative benchmarking is also performed to ensure practices are meeting industry best standards.

“At DAS, we place a priority on establishing long-term, highly personalized relationships with our practice clients,” said Schlaifer. “Our goal is to ensure that their transition to an electronic environment is as smooth and painless as possible so they, and their patients, can begin reaping the rewards of a top-quality, fully functioning EHR.”
