Waltham, MA – (April 30, 2014) – Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today that New York Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) has chosen UpToDate® Anywhere, its mobile-enabled clinical decision support resource. The five-year contract provides HHC clinicians with anytime/anywhere access to evidence-based clinical information to help improve their decision-making at the point of care.

HHC’s integrated healthcare delivery system of public hospitals and clinics in New York City serves 1.4 million residents with medical, mental health and substance abuse services, making it the largest municipal healthcare organization in the United States.

As HHC doctors and clinicians increasingly adopt devices like the iPad®, iPhone® and other tablets and smartphones as clinical tools, they can now find answers to clinical questions, anytime, anywhere. UpToDate Anywhere’s mobile access is ideal for HHC’s broad geographic presence, which includes eleven acute care hospitals, five skilled nursing facilities, as well as six large diagnostic and treatment centers and over 70 community clinics.

With UpToDate Anywhere, HHC also supports their clinicians’ continuing medical education: whenever providers research clinical questions through UpToDate, they are simultaneously earning CME credits. Rated as one of “The Best Apps in Publishing” by EContent Magazine, the UpToDate mobile app is available in iOS, Android™ and Windows 8 mobile platforms as well as via any internet browser.

“With an institution the size of New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, UpToDate Anywhere’s mobile access becomes essential for ensuring availability of its clinical content to all clinicians throughout their organization, from central hospitals to clinics in the community,” said Denise Basow, MD, Vice President/General Manager, UpToDate at Wolters Kluwer Health, Clinical Solutions. “Partnering with HHC to improve clinical decision-making at the point of care aligns with our mission of improving the quality and effectiveness of healthcare worldwide.”
