P_Soderberg_GB_BODMinneapolis, Minn. – Aug. 27, 2014 – Healthsense, Inc., announced today the appointment of Peter H. Soderberg, Managing Partner of Worthy Venture Resources, LLC, as Chairman of its Board of Directors. Soderberg replaces Kenneth Burdick, President and COO of WellCare Health Plans (NYSE MKT: WCG), who served as Healthsense Board Chair since 2012.

“With more than 20 years of executive-level healthcare experience within multiple market sectors, Peter brings to Healthsense an impressive track record of accomplishments that will further benefit our company as it continues to expand its presence in healthcare,” said A.R. Weiler, Healthsense President and CEO.

Soderberg, who founded Worthy Venture Resources in 2010, invests in and advises post-startup companies within the medical device, health IT and consumer health market sectors that are transitioning from initial market development to an established national or international market presence.

“I am honored to be joining the Board of Directors of Healthsense,” said Soderberg. “The healthcare market is undergoing rapid change, fueled by the increased emphasis on managed care services. The outlook is very promising, in particular for companies offering technology-enabled care solutions such as Healthsense. I look forward to joining such a dedicated team and contributing to the advancement of the organization.”

Soderberg also serves on the boards of Greatbatch, Inc. (NYSE: GB), Earlysense Ltd., and Tactile Medical, whose board he chairs. Previous positions include President and CEO of Hill-Rom, Hillenbrand Industries and Welch Allyn, as well as President of Johnson & Johnson Health Management, which culminated a 23-year career with J&J.

Burdick, Soderberg’s predecessor as Board Chairman, has stepped down from the Healthsense Board to focus on his new position as President and COO of WellCare Health Plans.

“We appreciate the strong leadership that Ken brought to Healthsense. His guidance aided us in expanding beyond our senior living business into the managed care and home health markets,” said Weiler. “He also helped us improve operating disciplines, strengthen our organizational core and provided process improvements.”
