Doctors Administrative Solutions Appoints Jennifer Shimek as Chief Operating Officer

TAMPA, Fla. – (March 7, 2011) – Doctors Administrative Solutions (DAS) has appointed Jennifer Shimek as Chief Operating Officer (COO). She is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the organization.

“Having spent a number of years of leadership in large physician practice settings, Jennifer has the first-hand knowledge and experience needed to help guide our team and our firm’s growth,” said DAS CEO David Schlaifer. “We are pleased to welcome her to our team and look forward to the insight and contributions she will bring to DAS.”

Prior to joining DAS, Shimek served as Director of Clinical Services and Managed Care at HealthPoint Medical Group, a Tampa-based multispecialty physician practice owned by BayCare with more than 120 physicians. There, she was responsible for all of the physician quality initiatives, including Medical Home, NCQA DRP Accreditation, PQRS, ePrescribe, coding, risk management, medical malpractice and others.  She also served as COO of the Florida Orthopaedic Institute, where she managed a clinical and administrative staff of more than 300 and the operational aspects of the 33-physician practice in Tampa.  Prior to physician practice management, she was a Manager of Health Sciences for Ernst & Young, where she provided national and international consulting services in healthcare.

Shimek earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and an MBA from the University of South Florida. She is currently working towards her Juris Doctor from Stetson University.

A certified professional coder, Shimek is a member of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and American Medical Group Association (AMGA).
