Amsurg Selects ProVation Software for Patient Charting, Procedure Documentation and Coding Compliance

3/10/2009

MINNEAPOLIS – Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today that Amsurg Corp. has selected ProVation® MD software for surgical procedure documentation and coding, and ProVation® EHR software for electronic health records and patient charting, as one of its preferred solution providers. Currently AmSurg owns a majority interest in 189 Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) across the nation with revenues in excess of $500 million, and has historically added 10 to 20 new centers each year.

ProVation EHR is an electronic health record designed for busy, cost-conscious ASCs. With ProVation EHR, ASCs have affordable access to a single, patient-centric documentation system that eliminates printing and chart storage costs and streamlines workflow. ProVation MD, available for the full range of ASC specialties, replaces dictation and transcription and allows physicians to efficiently document procedures at the point of care. ProVation software produces complete, coding-ready and image-enhanced documentation that results in greater efficiency, increased profitability and clinician satisfaction.

AmSurg Corp. develops, acquires and operates ambulatory surgery centers in partnership with physician practice groups throughout the United States. AmSurg-owned centers primarily focus on gastroenterology, ophthalmology, and orthopedic specialty procedures.

“ProVation’s electronic documentation solutions will allow us to streamline workflow, create operational efficiencies and allow us to demonstrate quality,” said Eric Thrailkill, Vice President and Chief Information Officer, AmSurg Corp. “We see their software and services as one component of our overall information systems strategy.”

“AmSurg Corp. is a respected leader in ASC development and management, and we are proud to have formed this partnership with them,” said Arvind Subramanian, CEO, Wolters Kluwer Health Clinical Solutions and ProVation Medical. “Their choice of ProVation for patient charting, documentation and coding software shows how committed they are to helping their affiliates cut printing and storage costs, and gain overall workflow efficiency.”
