MIAMI, Fla. – The GenerationOne Mobile Health Solution connects consumers with real-time guidance and support to help them better-manage chronic conditions and make healthier lifestyle choices. The easy-to-use solution leverages advanced technologies and clinical decision support to deliver real-time monitoring, reminders, alerts and a direct connection to nurses, physicians and other caregivers.
“When it comes to medical connectedness, we are still in the Dark Ages,’’ said Jeffrey Wolf, CEO, GenerationOne, Inc. ( www.generationone.com). “GenerationOne is pushing the boundaries of healthcare as we know it by integrating cellular phones and other mobile devices into collaborative care. The end result is that consumers, doctors and insurers all win.’’
The GenerationOne Mobile Health Solution utilizes advanced scripts and disease management protocols co-developed with leading U.S. medical and academic institutions to guide and monitor consumers throughout their daily routines. They receive customized medical reminders via cell phones to take medications, test blood glucose levels, check their blood pressure, etc. In the case of medication reminders, an image of the medication can also be delivered to help ensure the appropriate drug and dosage is being taken at the time specified.
Depending upon their specific health needs and conditions, individuals may be prompted to respond to a series of questions designed to evaluate their current health status. For example, an asthma sufferer may be asked if they are feeling short of breath, suffering from chest tightness, or if they’ve used their emergency inhaler in the past 24 hours. Someone with congestive heart failure may be queried about their sleep quality, number of pillows used, presence of edema, etc.
The individual responds using their phone’s key pad or, if they prefer, an interactive voice response (IVR) system. Results can also be collected wirelessly from medical devices, such as Bluetooth-enabled scales, blood pressure cuffs and glucometers.
The information is automatically analyzed and actionable information is delivered back to the individual when necessary. For example, a diabetic whose glucose levels are high would be instructed to eat certain food types to bring levels down or prompted to take other appropriate actions, including seeking emergency treatment in severe cases. Pre-set triggers can also be established that determine if and when the GenerationOne On-Call Nursing Service, or the individual’s physician or other authorized caregiver is alerted. This allows for immediate intervention, such as changes to care routines or medications, to avert a health crisis. Consumers are also able to alert the Nursing Service or their physician to specific symptoms such as chest pains or blurred vision and receive immediate information on the most medically appropriate course of action.
Services can be delivered through GenerationOne’s proprietary health phone, which is optimized for transmission of health information, or integrated with consumers’ compatible phones. Packages available through GenerationOne’s robust voice and data network can be tailored to include incentives to drive consumer adoption of the Mobile Health Solution.
“GenerationOne is dedicated to empowering consumers to proactively manage chronic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure and asthma,” said Wolf. “By utilizing the mobile phones and other wireless devices that have become ubiquitous in society to est
